Bimetal crimp caps allow the bottle to be transported using magnets, e.g. in the CTC Combi PAL, the Shimadzu AOC 5000/6000 or the Gerstel autosampler. They are generally more difficult to crimp/uncrimp, so the N 18 headspace threaded bottles can be a more convenient alternative. We recommend silicone/PTFE septa as the optimal choice for headspace applications, as they offer temperature stability from -60 °C to 200 °C, maximum analytical purity and excellent penetration properties. These closures with a high-purity silicone/PTFE molded disc are only laminated with PTFE in the area of contact with the sample. In this way, the elastomeric silicone can achieve a particularly good seal on the glass edges of the bottle, while fully PTFE-laminated septa have a very slippery surface on the glass and can therefore be easily rotated. The septa are fitted and the caps are ready for use. For illustrative purposes, the septa are shown with the underside facing upwards.
